"OPERATION COOKIE"
SUPPORT OF OUR VETERANS & TROOPS DURING MAY
La Crescenta Woman's Club pairs with the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena to collect donated cookies for "Operation Cookie". They pack cookies in boxes to give these cookies to hospitalized and homeless veterans prior to Memorial Day.  "Operation Cookie" is one of the philanthropic projects which began over 70 years ago when
members of the Club sent cookies to
soldiers serving in World War II.

Once again in 2018 we had really great Club support by our Club members for helping out with this wonderful project.  It is great to be working together to help our our Federated Friends at The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena!  "Operation Cookie” provided cookies for more than 2000 men and women who have served our country.

Cookies in decorative containers  have been distributed to patients in VA hospitals, convalescent care facilities, the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, and other groups serving physically and emotionally challenged veterans throughout the southland. Cookies were also distributed to homeless men and women veterans served by the Cabrillo Center in Long Beach and the VA Clinic in downtown Los Angeles.   We are especially pleased that we received enough cookies to distribute to veterans attending several area Memorial Day events and to VFW members who place flags on military graves at cemeteries for Memorial Day.

We have received numerous thank you notes and telephone calls of appreciation from individual veterans as well as organizations.  A letter from our Camp Pendleton liaison, who came to watch our operation in progress before loading cookie boxes in their van, expresses the sentiments of several thank you messages we have received:

Words cannot express what a blessing it was to see your wonderful team boxing up cookies in those beautifully decorated patriotic boxes… On behalf of our Wounded Marines and troops based at Camp Pendleton we would like to thank you for your… labor of love to bless our Veterans and our military with an assortment of cookies.  Their faces lit up with gratitude.
